- How is the water filtered?
- Why use UV technology?
What is WRAS?
- WRAS (Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) is an organisation that has been set up to promote knowledge of the water regulations required in the UK.
- If you have a WRAS approved water cooler, this means that it is up to the standard required by your local water utility company. A WRAS approved water cooler give you the peace of mind that you are using a suitable product as required by your water supplier company’s bylaws.
Why are mains water coolers better for the environment?
Mains fed water coolers are far more environmentally friendly compared to bottled water coolers as bottled water alternatives lead to:
- The generation of huge quantities of plastic waste, very little of which is currently recycled.
- The carbon emissions generated in the transportation of plastic bottles (i.e. vastly reduced 'water miles' with mains fed).
- The manufacture of plastic bottles which in itself consumes energy and creates pollution
What happens to the old water coolers?
The WEEE legislation states that producers/importers and operators/end users are required to collect end of life vending machines to recover, recycle and dispose of the material in accordance with the exact requirements of the directive.
Direct Watercoolers has a recycling centre and is fully compliant with the WEEE Directive (B2B) and will remove your old water cooler providing you are replacing this with a Direct Watercoolers product.
How is the water filtered?
All of our machines use carbon filters that remove grit and sediment and reduce bad tastes and odours.
- 2-stage carbon filtration
- Eliminates residual chlorine and hazardous contaminants
- Removes a wide range of organic matter such as grit and sediment
- Rigorous testing and independent verification on filter specification ensures a continuous level of high performance
Why use UV technology?
Some of our machines use in-tank UV technology to purify the water for extraordinary protection against bacteria.
- Scientifically proven to be the most effective way to kill bacteria (UWIC Research 2003)
- Destroys 99.99% of all bacteria and inactivates many viruses and cysts including Giardia and Cryptosporidium
- Disinfects water without adding chemicals
- Does not create new chemical complexes
- Does not remove any beneficial minerals
- Waterlogic has a unique automatic purification monitoring system that guarantees water quality
